The
Bash is Back at DAA/OKC!
Autumn is in the air….football fever is in full swing…..and
buyers and sellers are getting set for a no-holds-barred celebration
at Dealers Auto Auction of Oklahoma City, where the date is set for
the 2nd Annual
Bedlam Bash and BBQ. On
Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 and 11,
DAA/OKC will hold its
biggest event of the year, with two sales, an evening of
entertainment and revelry, and a tailgate party that promises to
give new meaning to the term “barbecue”.
“Last
year’s Bedlam Bash and BBQ scored big with buyers and sellers
alike, and if the buzz among our
customers is any indication, this
year’s event will draw even bigger crowds and showcase far greater
consignment numbers,” said Bruce Beam, DAA/OKC general manager.
“We’re planning on more than 3,500 vehicles, and we
expect to see more than 1,500 dealers over the course of the two
days. It’s going to be
great fun, with food, prizes and entertainment, and an even greater
opportunity for buying and selling vehicles!”
DAA/OKC’s Bedlam Bash and BBQ takes its name from the
athletics rivalry between the
University
of
Oklahoma Sooners
and the Oklahoma State University Cowboys,” explains Beam.
“We’re die-hard college sports fans here in
Oklahoma
, and we borrowed the ‘Bedlam’ name to give our customers an
idea of the kind of excitement they’ll find here at the auction on
sale day.”
The Bedlam Bash and
BBQ will kick-off on Wednesday, October 10 at 10 am with the
“Scrimmage Sale,” a specially scheduled GM Sponsored Closed
Auction, which will include 500 vehicles on two auction lanes.
On Wednesday
evening, from 6 to 11 pm, the auction will entertain its clients,
customers and dealers at Remington Racepark and Casino, with dinner,
drinks, dancing, a live band, and a caricature artist.
A highlight of the evening will be a special appearance by
Jason White, Billy Sims and Steve Owens, Heisman Trophy winners from
the University
of
Oklahoma, who will sign autographs and pose for pictures with those who wish
to keep a record of the night they rubbed shoulders with living
legends. Buses will be available to transport customers from the
auction and area hotels.
Doors open at 7:30 am
on Thursday, October 11 for the Bedlam Bash and BBQ sale, which
starts at 8:30 am. Once
the sale is underway, the arena will be a flurry of activity, as
dealers and employees, dressed in the colors of their favorite
college or pro football teams, work together to buy and sell
vehicles from GMAC, Ford Motor Credit, Enterprise Leasing, HSBC,
Remarketing Solutions, Hertz Carco of Arkansas, AmeriCredit and
more.
The Bedlam Bash and BBQ Tailgate Party will run all day,
reports Beam, starting with breakfast at 7:30 am, and progressing to
hamburgers, hot dogs and hot links for the remainder of the day.
The Heisman Trophy winners will stop by from 8:30 to 10:30 am
to visit with those who were unable to see them at the Wednesday
evening event. To add to
the excitement, prizes will be given away during the sale, including
autographed
University
of
Oklahoma
football helmets and commemorative Heisman footballs.
Each attending dealer will receive a University
of
Oklahoma
mini-football for autographing. As a fitting finale, the auction
will hold drawings for $10,000 in cash at the end of the day.
Opened in 1988 by owner and president Gary Smith, DAA/OKC
hosts a GM Factory Sponsored Auction every Tuesday at 10 am, and a
regular consignment sale every Thursday at 8:30 am.
Located on 125 acres, the auction includes 11 auction lanes,
a full service restaurant, and over 130,000 square feet of recon,
mechanical and body/paint shop facilities.
Offering 1,300 to 1,600 vehicles at its weekly sales, DAA/OKC
delivers the highest sales percentage of any independent auction in
the region.
DAA/OKC is a member of
the ServNet Auction group, and a
participating member of AuctionPipeline.com, a Web initiative that
provides auction customers with sales and market
information as well as live, online bidding.
