12 Millionth GM Vehicle Sold at
Auction

-- On Wednesday, September 26,
Flint
Auto Auction hosted a landmark General Motors closed factory
auction. Not only did the 400-unit sale mark the Silver Anniversary
year of GM Sponsored Auctions, but it also celebrated the 12
millionth GM vehicle sold at auction.
“Anyone who has attended a
GM Sponsored Auctions factory sale knows that the energy is high and
the action intense,” said
John Luce
, vice president and co-owner of the Flint Auto Auction.
“But our sale on September 26 was one for the record
books. More than 200 dealers
participated in this sale, and when the hammer dropped on that 12 millionth GM
vehicle, a 2007 Buick LaCrosse, the auction came to a standstill as we
celebrated the moment with the buying dealer: Patsy Lou Buick GMC of
Flint.”
“The
Flint Auto Auction has done a tremendous job handling the GM and GMAC
account over the years,” said Dan Kennedy, national sales manager,
GM Remarketing. “Their service to the GM dealers and
preparation of the sale vehicles for our dealers has been outstanding.
In recognition of the hard work and efforts, GM wanted to give
Flint Auto Auction an opportunity to showcase the 12 millionth vehicle
sale event on our behalf.”
Flint Auto Auction has
hosted a GM Sponsored Auctions closed sale since 2000, and since that
time has sold more than 80,000 GM vehicles.
It holds a closed factory auction every other week on
Wednesday, offering an average of 400 vehicles per sale and welcoming
250 GM dealers, who buy both in the lane and online, utilizing
Pipeline Simulcast. According to Luce, those dealers hail from more
than 30 states. Flint Auto Auction has received a number of awards
from General Motors, the most recent including Overall Achievement
Awards for June and July of 2007.

Williams, Jr., auction president and co-owner. “September 26 was a significant day for us, and
we worked hard to make this
special sale an extraordinary one for everyone involved.”
In addition to its biweekly
GM Sponsored Auctions, Flint Auto Auction holds its weekly consignment
sale Wednesday. A member of the ServNet Auction group, Flint Auto
Auction is a participating member of AuctionPipeline.com, a Web
initiative that provides auction customers with sales and
market information as well as live, online bidding.
