Heavy Truck Sales on Tuesday,
Dealer Auto Auctions Thursday.

BIG MONEY WINNER!     Covey’s Auto Sales of Huntington was picked as the lucky winner of a $30,000 progressive drawing Thursday at Indiana Auto Auction.
Like many other car dealers in attendance for Thursday’s auction, Larry Covey (center, above), owner of Covey’s Auto Sales, had joked around about the prospects of winning.
“You’re going to draw my name here in a little bit,” Covey said to one auction employee prior to the drawing.
But when his dealership was announced as the winner, Covey couldn't quite believe the good news. “He (Covey) just stood there for a second,” said Patty Lambert of Covey’s Auto Sales (right). “I told him ‘Come on, let’s go get your check.’ He just kind of stood there in a daze.”
The jackpot is the largest cash prize that the auction has ever offered.
“We were really excited to see them win the jackpot,” said Eric Autenrieth, the auction’s general manager (left, above). “They have been a loyal customer for more than 25 years and have been there for every one of the drawings.”

Indiana Auto Auction Celebrates 43 Years

Marking its 43rd year as an independent auto auction, Indiana Auto Auction celebrated Las Vegas-style on Thursday, April 17 with a 1,000-unit sale, capped by prize drawings for cash and prizes.

Kelly Bergman, auction marketing manager, reports that the anniversary sale showcased special consignments from a number of fleet, lease and repo companies, including Avis, Hertz, Donlen Corporation, VRS, Emkay, Enterprise and RSA. The event  also included more than 70 vehicles from Norfolk & Southern, and a 45-unit RV Sale.

Marking the occasion with a "Casino Royale" theme, Indiana Auto Auction held a number of drawings for cash and prizes at the anniversary sale.

"We started the day with our 'Lucky 7's' early-bird drawing," said Bergman. "The winner of that drawing rolled the dice to win either a set of professional-style poker chips or cash. It's a promotion we've been running since March as a warm-up to our anniversary sale activities, and it has been great fun to watch the dealers roll for the 'win', which was as much as $250!"

At the conclusion of the Anniversary Sale, buyers and sellers gathered for the grand prize drawings. Bergman reported that buyers of special consignments participated in drawings for several Sirius satellite radios and broadcast subscriptions. Two dealers will have the opportunity to try their chances at the gaming tables in Nevada as winners of the drawings for two trips to Las Vegas. One winner was chosen from among the top ten buyers and sellers from March through the anniversary sale; all buyers and sellers participating in the anniversary sale qualified for the second trip drawing. The grand finale was the "Big Money" progressive drawing for a guaranteed $30,000

Indiana Auto Auction has been a family-owned and operated auction since its founding in 1965. It was purchased in September of last year by the Stanley Autenrieth Auction Group and has since undergone an extensive remodeling process resulting in what many customers say is the most comfortable and efficient facility in the region. With eight lanes offering over 700 light duty vehicles and two lanes offering nearly 125 heavy-duty vehicles, IAA has something to offer every member of its diverse customer base of more than 3500.

Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana Auto Auction is centrally located amid a number of the country's largest automotive and truck markets, including Detroit, Chicago, and Indianapolis. IAA is located next to the main interstate highways that connect these cities, making Fort Wayne an excellent transportation hub. Fort Wayne's 300,000 plus population also helps to increase the buying strength at the auction.

Indiana Auto Auction offers a complete range of remarketing services including reconditioning, inspections, transportation, inventory financing, and wholesale automotive, salvage, specialty, and Internet auctions. The auction also has a Heavy Duty Truck Department with separate Sales for Trucks & Equipment. Indiana Auto Auction remarkets vehicles for wholesale consignors including dealers, rental car companies, banks, finance and leasing institutions. The auction's main customer base draws from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Illinois. The auction operates the Auction Pipeline technology platform and uses the AutoIMS inventory management system.
