Auto Auction Eyes June Opening for New Facility
KANSAS CITY,
Missouri
– Kansas Auto Auction’s new facility is taking shape as
construction progresses throughout the Spring. Construction was
started in October of last year, and auction officials are targeting
June 5th for the official opening.
The
auction will open with a new name (Kansas City Independent Auto
Auction), in a new state (
Missouri
), at its new location which is 40 miles south of its current site in
Elwood,
Kansas,
where it has been operating since 1978.
The new facility will include a 20,000 square foot building
hous ing
business offices and six auction lanes in the selling arena, a full
service restaurant, on-site PDR and dealer lockers. The dealer lot
will provide parking for 350 vehicles while the storage lot will
accommodate 900 vehicles.
Even
as the auction eyes its move to the new facility and its grand
opening, auction officials are planning for Phase II of the project,
which will include a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art recon
facility, additional parking for 900 vehicles and a test track.
Construction on Phase II is projected to begin in late 2008.
The
address for the new facility is 1101 North Congress,
Kansas City,
Missouri. The new auction is situated on 71 acres, just off Interstate 29,
and is five minutes from the Kansas City
Airport.

really excited to move into our new facility,” said auction owner
Doug Doll. “After 29
years in Elwood,
Kansas, we’ve outgrown our space. We’re
looking forward to welcoming our customers to a beautiful new home
in June, which we’re confident will be one of the top-tiered
auctions in the region.”
Kansas
Auto Auction holds a dealer consignment sale every Thursday,
offering vehicles for sale in the lane and online with Pipeline
Simulcast.
