From Sniper to Auction Owner --

John Brasher Works His Way Up

Way Up the Company Ladder

A Green Beret he isn't….but John Brasher honed his skill as a sharp-shooter at the tender age of six, shooting rats with a pellet gun at Brasher's old auction facility in West Sacramento. When Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction opened its new facility in Rio Linda in 1988, his services as rat-sniper were no longer needed, but he continued to enjoy the thrill of the hunt, and often accompanied his dad, Larry Brasher, on hunting trips to Alaska, Canada and the Mountain West.

John resumed his auction career at age nine when he sold refreshments on sale day, and he has worked in nearly every aspect of the auction process since then, including cleaning crew, check-in, detail, body & paint, lot operations, sales, marketing, ringman and auctioneer. After graduating from BYU and serving a mission for the LDS church, John began his full-time auction career in Portland, Oregon, working at Brasher's Cascade Auto Auction as dealer sales representative, and later as finance manager and fleet/lease manager.

In 2001 John moved to Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction, where he served as National Accounts Manager for Brasher's Sacramento, Cascade, Northwest and Reno Auto Auctions. In 2002 he assumed duties as president of West Coast Auto Auctions, the umbrella company for Brasher's Sacramento, Eugene, Northwest, Reno and Idaho Auto Auctions. He continues to auctioneer every week in Sacramento.
