opposite ends of the month, one on the East Coast and one in the West.
Early in the month, on March 7th, Charleston Auto Auction held its 7th
Anniversary Sale. Dealers from the across the country flocked to the
fastest-growing auction in the southeast region to bid on nearly 1700
vehicles with the hope of winning big in the auction’s $1 million
sweepstakes. Following at the end of the month, on March 24th and 25th,

Charleston
Auto Auction Celebrates with Two Sales, $1 Million Sweepstakes
Charleston
Auto Auction’s owner /managing partner Keith Lelux reports that more
than 500 dealers attended the auction’s 7th anniversary celebration at
its 80-acre facility in Moncks Corner, SC. This year, the Friday Anniversary Sale was preceded by a special
Thursday evening auction that featured more than 300 2005-and-newer
frontline ready units. All vehicles were offered live on Pipeline
Simulcast; a steak dinner with an open bar followed the Thursday evening
sale.
Customers
returned on Friday to bid on more than 1400 units, and waited with
breathless anticipation for the $1 million Sweepstakes “spin” that
concluded the anniversary sale. All dealers buying and selling at
Charleston Auto Auction since January qualified for the sale-end drawing,
when 21 names were chosen for their chance at the Sweepstakes Wheel.
All 21 dealers won prizes, including the three who advanced to the $1
Million qualifying round, when each chose one of 200 envelopes in hopes of
winning big! Everyone’s nerves were on edge as three lucky
dealers, Jamey Dorrell, Automotion,
Florence, SC; Bubba Scott, Main St. Motors, Moncks Corner, SC; and Larry Williams, L.T.
Williams Wholesale, Johns Island, SC, made their choices. Unbelievably,
Jamey missed the million-dollar envelope by just one number. The three
finalists each took home checks for $7,000, while the other prize winners
won a variety of gifts perfect for their game rooms at home: pinball
machines, slot machines, X-Box video game systems, foosball tables and
more. All told, Charleston Auction awarded more than $50,000 in cash
and prizes at its anniversary celebration.
"Both
our Thursday and Friday sales were blockbusters, offering almost 1800
units in two days!!!” said an elated Keith Lelux, Owner/Managing
Partner. ”There is an obvious demand for the late model units that
we offered with our special Thursday sale and we will begin hosting these
late model sales once a month beginning in April.”
Special
guests in attendance for Charleston Auto Auction’s two-day celebration
included Randle Smith, the Chairman of the Board and Sandra Moss, the
current President of the National Independent Auto Dealers Association (NIADA);
Jim Edwards the Executive Director of Carolina Independent Auto Dealers
Association (CIADA) and The CIADA’s entire Executive Committee.; and Tim
West Vice President and North American Auction Director of Black Book.
