Missouri Auto Auction Hires Gary Nichols 
to Head Equipment Auction

Gary Nichols has been hired by the Missouri Auto Auction to manage its subsidiary, the St. Louis Independent Equipment Auction. Kevin Brown, owner and general manager of Missouri Auto Auction, reports that Gary Nichols has joined the staff of the equipment auction as the general sales manager. 

A 25-year veteran of the remarketing industry and a native of St. Louis, Nichols worked for US Fleet, Wheels and Mitsubishi in California and spent the past four years as general sales manager at the Manheim Chicago auction. 

        "It's great to be back with family and friends in St. Louis and working to build the St. Louis Independent Equipment Auction," said Nichols, who noted that the facility held its first auction in August of last year. "It's exciting to be working with the owners [Kevin Brown and Gregg Boswell] to grow this operation. It's a wide-open market here in St. Louis, with tremendous growth opportunity, and we're looking to make our mark on this segment of the remarketing business.

  The St. Louis Independent Equipment Auction runs the second Wednesday of each month at 10 am, selling equipment and vehicles from municipalities, construction companies, 

government agencies and transit companies. It also handles vehicle donation sales for the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Vehicle Donation Processing Center and other non-profit organizations. Nichols reports that the auction is currently running between 75 and 125 units per sale, with a conversion rate of 65-70%. The auction is open to the public. 

        "Gary has been with us less than two months, but he hit the ground running," said Brown. "He knows the remarketing industry, he understands the auction experience, and he's applying his many years of experience to the equipment side of business." 

"Our immediate goal is to ramp up this operation so that we can acquire more property within the next couple of years, with the long-term goal of adding an independent auto auction in St. Louis," continued Brown. "With Gary's experience and enthusiasm, we're confident that we'll accomplish all that and more." 

St. Louis Independent Equipment Auction is located on 10 dedicated acres just south of Interstate 70, just 10 minutes from downtown St. Louis and 5 minutes from St. Louis International Airport.
