Specialty
Sale at Brasher's
Northwest Auto Auction Eyes Expansion
In
many ways, Eugene, Oregon is an unlikely place for the largest RV
and Specialty Auction on the West Coast, perhaps one of the largest
in the country. Tucked away in Oregon's Willamette valley, it is
over 100 miles away from Portland, the closest major metropolitan
area. But, hundreds of dealers converge on Brasher's Northwest Auto
Auction for its weekly sales, choosing from an inventory which
averages over 650 RV and Power Sports units every month.
Its
PowerSports division has seen explosive growth this year, and
auction General Manager Lisa Larkin reports that it has recently
opened a new PowerSports building to handle the increased
consignment. In addition, she expects to gain much-needed lot space
on the east side of the facility for RV parking early in 2009.
"We
have grown our Specialty Sale to the point that it is now one of the
largest, not just on the West Coast, but in the whole nation,"
said Larkin. "Buyers come to the auction from all over the
country, to choose from a varied inventory; and financial
institutions bring RV's from all over the West to sell at the
auction, where a strong market is still bringing top
money."
Brasher's
Northwest Auto Auction's RV sales are held every 2nd and 4th
Wednesday of the month. Its "World Famous" Specialty
Auction on the 2nd Wednesday averages 550 RV, Marine and PowerSports
units from consignors including Bank of America, Bank of the West,
GE Money, Key Bank, US Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. Every unit runs
through the auction arena and across the auction block. Two lanes
are open for each sale, allowing product to run simultaneously
side-by-side, enabling buyers to easily bid on multiple units
regardless of run time.
Brasher's
Northwest prepares a complete condition report, considered by many
to be the most complete available at any facility in the country,
for every bank and finance unit in the Specialty Sale. Condition
reports, along with multiple photos of each unit, are available for
viewing on the auction's website. All units are available for
purchase online with Pipeline Simulcast.
"Handling
an overabundance of inventory is a challenge, but it's a great
problem to have," said Larkin. "With our new PowerSports
building and the lot space we expect to add in January, we're
forecasting continue growth well into 2009 and beyond."
Established
in 1985 and purchased by the Brasher family in 1990, Brasher's
Northwest Auto Auction holds a dealer consignment sale every
Wednesday at 9 am, and a monthly public sale on scheduled Saturdays
at 10 am.. The auction is a member of ServNet, a premier group of
independent auto auctions from across the United States. The auction
participates in Auction Pipeline, where customers may view detailed
condition reports, market report information and participate in
online sales.
