Chicago Area Consigors Meet ServNet Owners

ServNet owners and representatives from a number of national accounts met together on Wednesday, June 11 in the second in a series of four “Meet The Owners” sessions, the first of which was this past March in the Dallas area.

Pierre Pons, ServNet CEO explained, "The dominant competitive advantage of ServNet Auctions is the dynamic owners group, many of whom are second and third generation auto auction operators."

Attending the luncheon held near Chicago's O'Hare airport were representatives of Chicago-area commercial consignors including: Wheels, Inc; GE Fleet; Emkay Leasing; Donlen Corporation; and Wachovia Dealer Services. Some accounts flew in from as far as Philadelphia (ARI) and Florida (CenterOne/World Omni) to attend the session.

At each “Meet The Owners” session, three different ServNet Auction owners share their personal auto auction stories and histories with the group. In Chicago these were Bob McConkey of DAA Northwest, Doug Doll of Kansas Independent, and Jeff Barber of State Line Auto Auction.

Said Dave Nagy of Emkay Leasing " It was very interesting to hear how these entrepreneurs got into the auto auction business and how their operations developed, sometimes from generation to generation."

Added Darrin Aiken of Wheels, Inc. "You really felt the passions and commitment these auction owners have for their businesses and how seriously they take the stewarding of our companies' vehicle assets."

Incoming National Auto Auction President, Chairman of the ServNet Board of Directors and co-owner of DAA Northwest, Bob McConkey said, “Having the ServNet Owners meet directly with major national consignors in a convenient format reinforces the value of the ServNet brand. Face-to-face, decision makers can share new ideas, resolve industry issues, and address service concerns on the spot.”

Keith Lelux, ServNet President and owner of the Charleston Auto Auction, introduced ServNet’s newest member, Bob Thompson, owner of Mid-State Auto Auction in New York Mills, MN. Lelux also welcomed Charles Nichols, President of BSC America, owner of the Bel Air Auto Auction in Bel Air, MD and Tallahassee Auto Auction in Tallahassee, FL. The BSC America auctions became ServNet Auction Group members in May.

ServNet plans for the next “Meet The Owners” luncheon session to be held in Detroit in early September with the last of this year's series slated for Southern California later in the year.
