Civil War Breaks
out at Brasher's Portland
Auto Auction
An
annual outbreak of Football Fever swept the auction arena at
Brasher's Portland Auto Auction in mid-November, when dealers
attending the sale on November 15th had the opportunity to pick the
score of the Civil War
battle between the Oregon State Beavers and
the University of Oregon Ducks
for their chance to win a 51" Samsung TV and Leather recliner.
Enjoying great tailgate food including hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on
the cob and civil war game cake, dealers who bought and sold at the
sale also qualified for sale-end drawings for tickets to the Civil
War Game, which was played this year at year at Oregon State's
Reser Stadium in Corvalis, Oregon on November 24th.
Auction
General Manager Jerry Hinton reports more than 600 dealers were
on-hand to bid on more than 750 vehicles running in the 2012 Civil
War Sale at Brasher's Portland Auto Auction. Featured consignors
included Wells Fargo Dealer Services, Reliable Credit, Repo
Remarketing, Westlake Financial, GSA, Enterprise, Dollar, Bud Clary
Dealerships, Vancouver Toyota, Gladstone Suzuki,
Beaverton Honda, Beaverton Kia, Hannah Auto Group, Braley and Graham
and Herzog Meier and many more.
"We
had a great turnout and dealers who bought in the lane won gift
cards, rewards points and hats," said Hinton.
"Congratulations to our grand prize winners who won the gift
baskets and game tickets: Tom Garza from Thomas Auto Sales, and
Michael Brady from Dave's Motorsports. And a special shout-out to
Rocky Gardiner from Castlerock Auto in Eugene, Oregon, who will
watch the post-season games from the comfort of his own home after
winning the big-screen TV and recliner, with the closest guess to
the game score"
The
Civil War is the seventh-oldest college football rivalry in the U.S.
First played in 1894, it has pitted the Ducks against the Beavers
116 times. The University of Oregon holds the series lead of
60-46-10, this year racing to a 48-24 Pacific-12 Conference Victory
over the Beavers before a record crowd of more than 47,000 fans. The
2012 Civil War game is Oregon's 5th straight victory.
"This
Civil War is always an exciting game, one that the dealers talk
about months ahead of time," said Hinton. "In a rivalry
like this, anything can happen. We look forward to the game every
year, and have established our own tradition with an annual Civil
War sale in Portland every November."
Hinton
notes that November also saw the launch of the auction's 2012 Toy
Drive, in partnership with KGW TV in Portland. To date, generous
dealers have donated more than $2,200 in toys which will be donated
to children in the Portland metropolitan area.
Established
in 1993, Brasher's Portland Auto Auction holds a consignment sale
every Tuesday and Thursday, and a monthly public GSA sale. The
auction is a member of ServNet, and also participates in Auction
