"Attendance at this year's Corn Roast Sale was outstanding, both in the lane and online, with the bidder count coming in at just under 1,600. Measuring the activity on the auction block and the enthusiasm among the dealers coming in the door, it seems the tide is turning and our customers are looking forward to an upswing in the days ahead."

Corn Roast Sale at Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction Sets Record

Cars, Corn and $40,000 in prize giveaways brought buyers in record numbers to Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction on August 17th and 18th. Auction General Manager Rex Roden reports that new and used car dealers filled the auctions lanes on both Monday afternoon and Tuesday, resulting in a 70% sale.

"This sale blew the doors right off the barn," said Roden. "Attendance at the sale was outstanding, both in the lane and online, with the bidder count coming in at just under 1,600. Measuring the activity on the auction block and the enthusiasm among the dealers coming in the door, it seems the tide is turning and our customers are looking forward to an upswing in the days ahead. It was great timing for this year's Corn Roast Sale, which was our most successful ever!"

The Corn Roast Sale is an annual tradition at Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction, bringing buyers and sellers together at the peak of the summer selling season. At this year's event, the auction served 1,500 ears of barbecued corn on the cob, gave away free T-shirts, and asked that the dealers wear those shirts in order to qualify for the prize drawings at the end of the sale, which included outdoor furniture, electronics, and the grand prize: an Independence Freedom custom motorcycle.

"Even in what has been a challenging market, Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction continues to set the bar in the West," said Roden. "Buyers look to Brasher's as the best source for inventory, and their activity in the lanes is keeping sales strong. A recent study by JD Powers and Associates shows that Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction not only out-performed all other auctions in our region, but showed significant growth over the same period in 2008. It proves what we've always known: that Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction is THE place to buy and sell vehicles!"

Roden notes that the auction continues to attract new consignors as its buyer base continues to grow. Currently the auction features vehicles from such institutional consignors as AmeriCredit, Capital One, CitiFinancial, Dollar Thrifty Group, Fireside Bank, Ford Motor Company, Ford Credit, Hertz, Lobel Financial, PHH, Repo Remarketing, RSA, Triad Financial, Wheels, and Wachovia Dealer Services. Roden indicated that Golden One will soon be featured as part of the auction's Monday afternoon repo sale.

A four-time winner of Ford's Golden Gavel Award, Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction encompasses 100+ acres, operates 16 lanes, and handles more than 2,000 vehicles at its weekly dealer consignment sale. In addition, the auction also holds a monthly GSA Sale which is open to the public as well as the auction's dealer base. Brasher's Sacramento Auto Auction is one of the founding members of ServNet, which was established in 1987, as well as a founding member of AuctionPipeline.com, a web initiative that provides auction customers with sales and market information as well as live, online bidding.
