Industry Mourns the Passing of a Pioneer

Robert W. McConkey, Sr., past president of the National Auto Auction Association, passed away on May 23, 2009, in Livingston, MT.. He is the father of current NAAA President, ServNet Chairman, and DAA Northwest owner Robert McConkey, Jr.  He owned the South Seattle Auto Auction for 34 years.

An auto auction industry pioneer, he served as president of the National Auto Auction Association in 1976-77. In 1997, McConkey moved to Livingston for the hunting and fishing, and for a lifestyle closer to his roots in Canada. Always determined and persistent, he worked as a sales representative for DAA Northwest, his son Bob, Jr.'s auto auction in Spokane, traveling the state of Montana and bringing a chuckle and a smile to all of his car dealer friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
