Dealers
at Sparkling City Auto Auction Help Distressed Children
Sparkling
City Auto Auction's final sale of 2009 was a productive day of
buying and selling for auction customers, but, more importantly,
provided an opportunity for the auction and its customers to band
together to help area children in need.
Tuesday,
December 22nd was the final day of a 3-month-long effort to collect
funds and needed supplies for The Ark, an emergency shelter for
children in Corpus Christi.
"While
we focus much of our time and efforts on the business community in
this area as we buy and sell vehicles throughout the year, we
realize that we are part of a larger community of friends and
neighbors. We wanted to focus on those who need our help as we
approached the Christmas season," said auction owner Wade
Walker. "The Ark provides a vital service in our community
helping abused and neglected children, and we determined that we
could help by collecting toys and supplies for the Ark each week at
the auction."
Walker
explained that dealers began bringing new toys, clothes and diapers
to the auction in October. The donations mounted steadily through
November and December; for every item donated, auction customers
received an entry for a year-end drawing. The auction, in turn
donated $1 for every car consigned for sale during the
quarter.
At
the last sale in December, a representative from the Ark attended
the auction to thank the auction and its customers for the generous
donations made to the children. A drawing was also held; Louis
Repair Shop, a new auction customer, held the winning entry and
received a check for $4,000 from Sparkling City Auto Auction.
A
three-time winner of AmeriCredit's Auction of Excellence Award in

Robstown, Texas, just outside of Corpus Christi, and serves the
