State Line Auto
Auction Raises $19k for Charity
The
Salvation Army's 24th annual "Christmas is for Kids" drive
raised more than $40,000 this season and the auto dealers at State
Line Auto Auction in Waverly, New York were a big part of it.
For
the past eight years, State Line has held its "Major Motion
Charity Auction" featuring toys for all ages. This year's
auction included everything from pedal cars to mini 4-wheelers and
dirt bikes to specialty office and outdoor furniture.
One
of the recent traditions is a auto-themed quilt, made and donated by
State Line employee Deb Crum. For the past three years, Crum spent
hours searching for fabric and creating one-of-a-kind, children's
quilts featuring cars, trucks and tractors. This year, her efforts
raised $350 for the charity.

One
of State Line's dealers may have started a new tradition this
season. Vic Lipani from Vic Daniel's Auto & Truck of Kendall,
New York didn't buy anything, because all of his
grandchildren have grown up. Instead, he held up a $100 bill, saying
"I don't have a need for any of these toys but want to
contribute. Let's see if we can get others like me to give a little
something." Jeff Barber, owner of State Line Auto Auction,
removed his hat and passed it through the large crowd. The hat was
returned to Barber containing more than $600.
The
record-breaking contribution from State Line and its customers was
$19,120 and it was presented during the yearly radio broadcast of
the event.
"Even
in tough times, our hearts still have plenty to give," said
Barber.
