"You know, I love this business.
I really enjoy being a part of everyone and giving back...
but we can't do it alone.

"I hope all of you, somehow, will put something back into our industry and our association. That's where you will find your reward, because it's such a terrific group. Thank you for allowing me
to serve you."

Larry Tribble Inducted into NAAA Hall of Fame

The members of ServNet are proud to congratulate one of our own: Larry Tribble, owner of Southern Auto Auction and one of ServNet’s founding members, who has spent the better part of his career in tireless service to the auction industry. He was inducted into NAAA’s Hall of Fame during the association’s national convention held in Chicago last month.

Tribble is the third executive at Southern Auto Auction to be named to Hall of Fame; he follows in the footsteps of his father, Larry Tribble, Sr., and also Bob August.

In making the presentation at the convention, Ray Nichols, chairman of BSC America spoke of Tribble’s "sterling reputation regionally as a concerned and environmentally friendly businessman."

"Best of all, our honoree remains constantly a builder, tweaking his processes daily and passing critical new techniques to the rest of the industry," Nichols said of his long-time friend. "His businesses are known for pushing the envelope. He enjoys a special reputation for enviable management practices and the ability to grant his management team the opportunity to succeed.”

In spite of the time and attention required to run the largest independently-owned auto auction in the country (Southern Auto Auction includes 300 acres, with 18 dedicated dealers lanes and a 3-lane dedicated factory auction facility), Tribble has offered his unwavering support to the industry over the years. He served as president of the NAAA in 1998, a term was marked by his unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation and a passionate determination to spread the message that auctions offer the best remarketing system in the world. Working with the NAAA Marketing Committee, he developed a multi-media presentation highlighting the benefits of the auction process which he used as he criss-crossed the country to make personal visits to every auto manufacturer on the West Coast and in Detroit. He also worked closely with the NADA to develop a brochure outlining the Top Ten Reasons to Use an Auto Auction, which has since been distributed to tens of thousands of auction buyers and sellers.Tribble has also lent his expertise and enthusiasm to many NAAA committees throughout his years of service to the association.

After receiving the award, Tribble said, "You know, I love this business. I really enjoy being a part of everyone and giving back, and it's been just wonderful. But you know, we can't do it alone," he said. He then thanked his wife and family, and several of his key managers who help him run the business.

Then Tribble challenged the audience to redouble their efforts and recommit to the betterment of the association. "I hope all of you, somehow, will put something back into our industry and our association," he said. "That's where you will find your reward, because it's such a terrific group. Thank you for allowing me to serve you. I will be here to help anyone."
