Summer is in full swing at ServNet auctions across the country, where the industry's most notable mega-sales set the bar for innovation and impact on the market, says ServNet's President Eric Autenrieth. Bringing customers together for everything from anniversary sales and rock concerts to summer barbecues and celebrations of the red-white-and-blue, ServNet auctions are building consignments from dealers and national remarketers, positioning their inventory to take advantage of the biggest auction events in the country.

"Summer promotions at ServNet auctions have for years defined the season," says Autenrieth. "The variety, quality and creativity of these events are remarkable, and they have a tremendous impact on the marketplace. They bring customers together from all parts of the country for good times and prime opportunities for buying and selling in the auction lanes."  Read full story

DAA Seattle Names AGM
Brian McConkey Expands Auction Responsibilities

Now in its fifth year and offering over 800 units each week, DAA Seattle has added an assistant general manager. Brian McConkey, who joined the auction in 2013, has taken on the role.

Prior to coming on board with DAA Seattle, McConkey was employed by Nordstrom, where he received management training, worked in corporate Human Resources and was responsible for interviewing, hiring and providing successful onboarding of new employees for the company's Downtown Seattle flagship store. This human resources experience transitioned well into DAA Seattle, which has grown from 19 to 84 employees since McConkey joined the team. In addition to human resources, he assists with the management of IT, marketing, industry events and conferences, corporate and dealer relations, operational efficiencies, competitive analysis, auction safety and more.

"Brian is a natural leader who has earned the respect of his peers," says General Manager Dave Blake. "I appreciate his openness to understanding an individual's challenges, his ability to study opportunities for improvement, and his innovative mind; he is a perfect fit for the AGM position here in Seattle, and I look forward to growing success in our partnership," he adds.

The festivities kicked off on Monday, May, May 14th with a special Legacy Dinner and VIP auction, and featured special guest speaker Frank Martin, the current Head Coach of the University of South Carolina basketball team, which made the Final Four in 2017. Carolina Auto Auction sold tickets to the dinner and auction, where bidders vied for 13 live auction items, including a Bret Michaels signed guitar, a Charlie Daniels fiddle, and a Wheel of Fortune prize package that includes tickets to the show. Tuesday, May 15th continued with the 4-man Captain's Choice event held at Cobbs Glen Country Club.  This year the auction had such an overwhelming response to the tournament that golfers were split into morning and afternoon flights in order to accommodate the 160 golfers who signed up to play.  Carolina Auto Auction brought in Miss South Carolina Suzi Roberts, along with the Rally Cats and Clemson Tiger mascot, to support the event as special guests.  CAA also held a special raffle for its attending golfers with unique items available to win after the golf tournament for those who participated.

In conjunction with the tournament, Carolina Auto Auction held a large raffle that ran from April 11 through May 16th with over 30 highly valued items available to win.  The auction sold over 300 raffle tickets with all proceeds being added to the overall donation.

This is the second year in a row that CAA has raised over $100,000 for Winship Cancer Institute, and it honors the struggle of millions around the world who have battled cancer, including its founder and owner, Henry Stanley, who received treatment from Winship in Atlanta.

DAA Northwest's Rock & Roll Sale Taps Technology
Auction Introduces Digital Box Office, Event Information Website

Since its inception in 1996, DAA Northwest's Rock & Roll Sale concert has grown from a few hundred invited guests to over 4,000. With so many guests, the auction determined that the ticketing process needed to be simplified for guests and staff alike. This July, attendees will download their tickets from a designated DAA Northwest Rock & Roll Sale digital box office.

"The only difference between this and any other concert ticket purchase you make online is that you won't need your credit card for our event," says Mitzi VanVoorhis, the McConkey Auction Group's VP of Marketing. Invited guests will receive a unique access code that they will enter into DAA's digital box office website. Complimentary tickets will be downloaded and can be printed or saved on smartphones; they will be required for entry and will be scanned at the gate. "And as with any other digitally downloaded ticket, ours cannot be duplicated," adds VanVoorhis. "Copied tickets simply will not scan at the gate."

In addition to digital event tickets, DAA Northwest has transitioned from printed Rock & Roll Sale information to a designated event website. Customers who log on to daanw.com/daarocks will find links to information about the auction's Wednesday, July 18th Rock & Roll Sale, the Wednesday evening concert and party featuring John Fogerty, event ticketing, DAA's July 19th Thursday sale, the auction's Sweetheart's Day on the Town event for spouses of dealers who are working the sale, and Rock & Roll Sale shuttle schedules. The site is responsive, making it easy to access from desktop computers, tablets and smartphones.

John Fogerty will headline DAA Northwest's 2018 Rock & Roll Sale in July.

"Our ultimate goal is to improve every customer's Rock & Roll Sale experience from start-to-finish. Giving them access to information and concert tickets digitally -- whenever they want or need it -- helps to accomplish that," says VanVoorhis.

Now in its 23rd consecutive year, the Rock & Roll Sale includes a 2,000 unit Wednesday fleet/lease and MotorSports sale, a Wednesday evening concert and party featuring international headliner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee John Fogerty, and a 3,000 unit Thursday sale that culminates with over $75,000 in post-sale prizes.

Indiana Auto Auction Launches Season with All-American Celebration

Indiana Auto Auction is celebrating everything that has to do with being American at its All-Star Celebration from June 7th through 28th.  Dealers who buy or sell vehicles during that time period receive entry tickets, and winners can "pick their prize" choosing one of five options: 1) an American-made Fender guitar and concert tickets to Charlie Daniels, Night Ranger, and The Marshal Tucker Band;  2) A gas pump that the previous owner claimed pumped race fuel at the famed Thunder Valley raceway in Salem, Indiana; 3) a large collection of Harley-Davidson collectables that would make any Harley rider's garage or man cave look good;  4) An original early 1950's coke machine, a true time machine that will take you back to when a 6 ounce coke would only cost you a dime; and 5) A HUGE assortment of fireworks that will light up the sky for hours.  What a better way to celebrate being in the land of the free!! At the end of the sale, four lucky dealers play "corn hole for cash" as they test their skills playing corn hole.  Final drawing is June 28th.

Indiana Auto Auction will also host its first corn roast event on July 19th.  In addition to the summer's best selection of cars and trucks in the lanes, dealers will enjoy sweet corn on the cob served in the lanes.

The crowning event of the summer is the much-anticipated 10th Annual Hog Roast and Car Sale, running from August 2nd through the 23rd.  Every week dealers buying or selling at the auction will qualify for grill and smoker giveaways.  On August 23rd, the auction hosts its famous Pig Pickin' Breakfast, serving up pulled pork from a hog that has been cooked overnight as well as eggs and toast. Dealers look forward to this event every year, and arrive early to enjoy the delicious pork and egg breakfast. Throughout the promotion dealers will also receive the latest collectable Hog Roast t-shirts so they can wear them in the lanes with pride.

Akron Auto Auction Plans 45th Anniversary Sale

akron 06-18.jpg

To celebrate its 4th anniversary, Akron Auto Auction is set to host a beach themed sale on Tuesday, June 26th. Buyers, sellers and auction employees alike are packing up their beach attire and making their destination plans to visit northeast Ohio's newest island getaway. The auction expects to have well over 1000+ units at its Anniversary event with dealer, public, and GSA vehicles filling the lanes as well as plenty of giveaways and prizes. T-shirts sporting the 45th Anniversary beach themed logo will be available and given out as prizes throughout the event, along with other anniversary merchandise.

In the weeks leading up to the sale, dealers have entered a Beach Ball Blow-up contest that will take place after the final vehicle crosses the block at the anniversary sale. Four contestants will be drawn and chosen for two head-to-head competitions to take home a Yeti Cooler filled with prizes: Summer Shandy beverages, gift certificates and beach gear.

To show appreciation to its loyal dealer base, AAA is providing a complimentary lunch from three of the Akron area's best food trucks.

Buyers who are unable to attend the Anniversary Sale in person can still surf the lanes online via simulcast and save during a month-long Jazzy Junesimulcast discount. The auction is discounting simulcast fees for all online purchases made in the month of June (a value of approximately $25 dollars per vehicle purchased.) Jazzy June is yet another way the auction shows appreciation for its frequent online buyers as well as an incentive for others to try simulcast as an alternative way to buy vehicles at AAA.

Year 45 is proving to be a totally tubular one for Akron Auto Auction in many ways. A neighboring 12-acre lot has been recently acquired to facilitate a new Repossession Department building and adds up to 500 additional parking spaces. The project is on track to be completed in the Fall.

Promotions Heat Up Lanes at Greenville Auto Auction

June has been a great month for Greenville Auto Auction. The auction started the month off with its Dealer Appreciation Sale, where dealers were provided with free lunch and t-shirts, and were treated like VIPs all day long. The auction also continued with its BB&T/RAC promotion called Game Central. During this promotion, the top buyer and two random buyers from the previous BB&T/RAC sale have the opportunity to win money by playing a game prior to the sale.

Greenville Auto Auction is also currently conducting an End-of-Sale Drawing every week in June. The drawing starts at $100, and the dealer drawn must be present and have had at least one transaction at the sale. If the dealer is not present, the money rolls over to the following week for an additional $100.

GAA hopes to finish June strong with a great mix of inventory and the addition of U-Haul Remarketing to its fleet lane.
